Your Task: Students will use this Webquest to find the answers to their Digestive System Worksheet. Have you ever wondered just what exactly happened to that slice of pizza that you ate for lunch today? Have you ever wondered just how the human body works? Believe it or not, the human body is actually an elaborate machine that takes the food that you eat and converts in into energy. This whole process is known as the Digestive System. Lets take a closer look at how the Digestive System works. Step 1: Fill in your Digestive System Diagram. The first thing that you are going to need to do before you can understand just how the Digestive System works is to know what organs are involved in the Digestive System. Use the link below to find out the different organs that are involved in breaking down the food that enters your body. http://www.myschoolhouse.com/courses/O/1/67.asp

http://www.kwiznet.com/p/takeQuiz.php?ChapterID=1594&CurriculumID=7&Num=2.17 Step 2: Discover the answers to The Human Digestive System worksheet Use the following websites to answer the questions found in your packet to get a better understanding of how the digestive system works within the human body! http://www.e-learningforkids.org/health/lesson/digestive-system/ (Use the website above to answer questions #1-6) http://www.enchantedlearning.com/subjects/anatomy/digestive/ (Use the website above to answer question #7) http://kidshealth.org/kid/htbw/digestive_system.html (Use the website above to find out more specific information about our digestive system) http://kidshealth.org/kid/htbw/_bfs_DSmoviesource.html

(Click on the link above to get a visual of how food travels through our digestive tract) Step 3: Watch the Video (Optional) Now that you know how the digestive system works within the human body. Take a few minutes to watch a video showing the tract that your food takes throughout the entire system. However, be warned, the video can be a bit graphic. Don't watch if you have a weak stomach.

http://www.teachertube.com/viewVideo.php?video_id=7482 Well, now you know what happens to that piece of pizza that you eat for lunch or the cereal that you eat for breakfast. The Human Digestive system breaks down the food that you eat and turns it into energy for the body to use. Remember, the human body is made up with a number of complex systems, such as the Digestive System, that work together to accomplish all of life's tasks. I hope that you enjoyed our journey throughout the Human Digestive System.
